A fine traditional hearty French stew made from recipes dating back hundreds of years. Cassoulet, deriving from the word ‘Cassole’ the traditional glazed dish originally used to produce this fine bean stew, is a tasty blend of haricot beans in a rich sauce with duck or goose confit and traditional sausages from Toulouse. The dish is finished under the grill or in the oven with a bread crumb topping before being served. Our Cassoulet uses a recipe from the famous Castlenaudary, the self proclaimed capital of the Cassoulet world and brings you a true French tasting experience in your own front room.
Simply open the tin and empty the contents into an oven proof dish and re-heat in the oven until hot. For an authentic touch, sprinkle liberally with fresh breadcrumbs to create the famous 'Cassoulet Crust'. Alternatively heat through gently on the hob before placing into bowls and finishing under the grill with a breadcrumb topping for that truly authentic look. Pure indulgence, especially when served with warm crusty French Bread on a winters night in front of the fire.
